HR Challenges

With the events of 2020, one of the biggest challenges is taking the traditional physical office space and moving it into a remote setting. The capacity to do this is not there in certain industries, such as manufacturing and retail, but in FinTech, the industry and environment were already set up to work remote as needed. It has now been put to the test by having everyone remote full-time.  

Moving employees remote was successful because of the collaboration with everyone. Employees had to work well with HR, their Managers and IT departments to set up remote working environments.  

Current Role of HR

Staff Development

The role that HR plays within an organization has changed with the events of 2020. HR business partners are working more closely with people managers to ensure that mentoring, coaching and development of staff is still happening, despite the remote work environment.  

Keeping Company Culture

It’s important for organizations to evaluate what their company culture looks, and this is additional work that HR is taking on. Asking questions such as, what does our company culture look like? What does company culture really mean? How is our company different now than from before? If an organization has adapted to remote work well, and they really believe in their company culture, the feeling of culture should remain the same, despite different methods of communicating it.  

Getting Employee Feedback

Hearing from employees is always important, but more so now with everyone being remote. Using a people success platform, such as Glint, can be vital to getting employee feedback. Having access to employee insights gives leaders and managers actionable items to change and improve on.
